Kaokoland & Kunene
In the eastern part of the Skeleton coast Park is a very rough region that is among the most spectacular places -Kaokoland in Namibia. Pronounced as “Coco land”, the place has a gorgeous landscape with table Peak Mountains, plains scattered with rocks and hills shaped like cones, with a desert habiting giraffes, elephants plus rhinos. The area is also a haven of nomadic people of the Himba clan who migrate every season with their large herds of animals looking for grazing pastures; and this has been the trend for several centuries. The Kaokoland covers 49500 square kilometers and starts from River Haonib extending to Kunene. Some of the spectacular attractions in this place are the Ruacana Falls plus the Epupa Falls and the rapids found in Ondorusu plus Enyandi.

Although it isn’t easy to see wild animals; you will come across giraffes gemsbok, springbok, mountain zebras and the black face impalas. Namibia’s northern border trails the permanent River Kunene in an infertile area towards the stunning Skeleton Coast up to the Namib Desert. The Cinderella Waxbill plus the Rufous tailed palm thrust which are the most unseen birds in southern Africa stay in the tropical vegetation belt along river Kunene
