Damaraland is an area of andulating plains and fur away mountain ranges with up and down stunning landscapes. Damaraland is a unique geological feature, the richness of rock paintings and engravings, and has a number of desert-adapted Elephants and black Rhino put together to make its uncommon attraction.

Most scenic area in Namibia:

Damaraland makes part of the most interesting sites in Namibia, with ancient water courses with open plains and grassland, great granite koppies and amazing distant mountains. Wildlife species like the desert Elephant, black Rhino, Ostrich and Springbok.

Highlights of the area:

Damaraland highlights are made up of the Brandberg, Namibia’s highest mountain and dwelling place for the renowned ‘White Lady’ Bushman Painting; Twyfelfontein, a striking rocky outcrop with numerous Bushman engravings; Spitzkoppe, a typical outstanding inselberg, and region of great mystery; the Petrified Forest, which is a number of years old and the Vingerklip (finger rock), a towering number of limestone that are about 35metres vetical of its bottom. It is a zone of the left overs of a plateau that developed in about 15 million years ago.

Climate:

The north of Namibia is sub-tropical and receives summer rains bringing up some humidity. Temperatures range from 26°C (79°F) in the winter to 43°C (108°F) in the summer during the period of December to March.

Rainy Season:

The primary symbols of the fore coming rain is received in the January, maximumly received in March. Rainfall is not constant and occassionary received as heavy late-afternoon thunderstorms. In the period of these hot summer months you can think of daytime temperature to maximise to about 35°C (95°F), especially in the river valleys.

Dry Season:

During the period of May to September are  the temperatures  quite cooler and pleasant  in these months averaging to almost 26°C (79°F) during the day. Nights can get cold and frosty in June, July and August. The best months in Damaraland are May to December.
